Spoon Carving with Wood - Saturday 10:00 AM (Feb 1 - Feb 1)

15y up. No experience necessary! In this one day workshop we will look at the nature of wood, BASIC sharpening skills, initial cutting, and splitting, and arriving at the basic shape of the spoon. We will then design the form or shape of the spoon (or flipper) and then shape the wood with knives following the design. Then we finalize the shape of the spoon with sanding then decorate the spoon and add the final touches. Wood and the use of the required tools will be provided. Lunch break from noon -1pm.

Gourmet Plant Based: Black Bean Quesadillas with Mango Salsa - Tuesday 6:00 PM (Feb 25 - Feb 25)

Come and learn the principles and secrets of the plant-based kitchen including the importance of vegan protein in your dishes. Easier than expected! ! As a community kitchen we will cook, eat and clean up together. Discover “hands on” how to prepare Quesadillas as a main dish, nutritious and delicious. Learn all about cooking beans from scratch and the traditional Mexican seasoning, a “no tomato” salsa and a plant-based sour-cream.

East Coast Swing - Tuesday 7:00 PM (Jan 7 - Feb 11)

Join us for a fun, upbeat class learning the basics of East Coast Swing. It is a slower version of Jive and therefore extremely adaptable with a wide range of tempos and foot rhythms. East Coast Swing is danced with a carefree style and most often with a lot of circular rotation. The various possible rhythms are excellent training for quick footwork and spontaneity. Once mastered, the Swing is fun and exciting to learn and practice. No previous dance experience required, singles and couples are welcome.

Tai Chi Chuan Fan Form - Tuesday 5:15 PM (Jan 28 - Mar 11)

It is recommended that participants have some previous experience with a solo Yang Style form before taking this class. This ancient exercise combines the relaxed fluid movements of Tai Chi with the artistic and martial aspects of the fan. The Fan Form is ideal for greater flexibility and balance, increased energy, stronger hearts and better circulation. Warm up and Qi Gong exercises will precede each class. Fans will be available to borrow or bring your own.

Prenatal Yoga - Tuesday 6:15 PM (Jan 7 - Mar 11)

This class is designed for strengthening and grounding, while connecting to your mind, body and baby. The pregnancy specific yoga practice includes postures that are all safe to practice at every stage of pregnancy. It focuses on relaxing the body, as well as safe techniques and poses while meeting other local moms-to-be. Although designed for all trimesters and abilities, we recommend waiting until 12 weeks or being cleared by your health care provider if you have a history of previous pregnancy complications or don't have any prior yoga experience.
