Zoning & Land Use

Each property in Kelowna has a zoning classification that specifies the use of the land pertaining to types of structures and activities allowed. Zoning Bylaw 12375 specifies permitted uses, density, lot coverage, lot size, setbacks, building height, off-street parking, landscaping and other criteria.

Outdoor fitness permit

Kelowna's parks and green spaces are available for everyone to enjoy throughout the year. Casual, informal gatherings don't require a permit. If you want to use City park space for a fitness class like yoga or a boot camp, you’ll need to apply for an Outdoor Fitness Activities in Parks permit (even if the instructor isn’t charging a fee). Permits are required from April 1 to Oct. 31 and can be purchased on a monthly or seasonal basis (refer to application for current rates).
