Central Rutland Sanitary Sewer Connection Area

Extension of sanitary sewer mains and services to properties still on septic systems.  West and Northeast Phases are now complete which include roads on the west side of Rutland Road and East side of Rutland Road from Prior to Scarboro. All properties that were in these phases can now connect to sewer. Work will be completed on the Southeast phase in 2025 which includes Belgo, Princess, Bell, Clarissa, Jupiter, Lucas and Villa Vista. Connection to sewer will be ready starting summer 2025 as work is sequenced and completed.

A public information session was held on September 26, 2024, for residents to learn about the project, view designs and renderings and have their questions answered by the project team.

Water Street Lift Station Upgrade

The Water Street Lift Station is one of the most critical elements of wastewater infrastructure for the City and as a result of this project, will see a brand-new lift station occupy the site. The facility, in some form, has been in its current location adjacent to Mill Creek at 1831 Water St for over 100 years and has undergone previous renovations and upgrades. The operation now requires a new station onsite to ultimately increase hydraulic capacity as a result of rapid downtown growth and densification within its catchment area.

Dehart Park

Located in Lower Mission, DeHart Park is a top focus amongst three major community parks in the City’s new Parks Development Cost Charge program allowing for design & construction in 2023-25. DeHart Park is envisioned as a vibrant focal point in the neighbourhood that will serve diverse age groups and abilities through a variety of park features and amenities. Public consultation was completed Fall / Winter 2022/23 with the design complete in 2023 and construction 2024 / 2025.

Frost Rd Extension to Chute Lake Rd

The extension of Frost Road to Chute Lake Road will provide a new connection between Chute Lake Road and Gordon Drive, including a new roundabout at the intersection of Chute Lake and Frost roads.
This connection will improve access for residents of the Kettle Valley neighbourhood to Gordon Drive and South Perimeter Way, schools and future commercial services in the Ponds neighbourhood, and reduce traffic on parallel neighbourhood streets. 

Design work took place throughout 2024, with construction expected to be completed by fall 2025.

The Bertram Multiuse Overpass will create a new comfortable, accessible and reliable connection over Highway 97 for people walking and bicycling. It will link growing neighborhoods on the south side of Highway 97 to Downtown and, in the future, to the surrounding active transportation network. This new connection will improve access to parks, employment, transit, businesses, services and amenities for people working and living on both sides of Highway 97.
