Hollywood 7 DCC (Sexsmith to John Hindle)

This project upgrades and extends Hollywood Road N from John Hindle Drive to Sexsmith Road. Improvements include development of a suburban major arterial roadway and intersection upgrades at Sexsmith Road, Academy Way and John Hindle Drive. This is one of a series of projects planned to develop Hollywood Road N as a continuous arterial corridor between Airport Way and Highway 97. Project components include design, land acquisition and construction. Budget indicated below is more anticipated work in 2025.

Burtch 2 DCC (Byrns to KLO)

This is part of the Burtch Road extension project which will create a continuous north/south corridor between Glenmore Rd and KLO Rd. This phase of the project provides a new section of arterial roadway between Byrns Road and KLO Road. The project supports development and population growth in the south end of Kelowna. Project components include design, construction and land acquisition. Budget below is for work anticipated in 2025.

Stockwell Ave - Watermain Renewal and Urbanization

This project’s objective is to upgrade the existing water infrastructure along Stockwell Avenue between Richter Street and Ethel Street. The existing cast iron watermain, susceptible to costly breaks, will be abandoned in favour of a new PVC main which will also have new services connected to each property. Additionally, the roadway will be urbanized as part of the works which includes a new storm water management system, curbs & gutter.

Abbott ST and Miekle Ave ATC Walnut St to Newsom Ave

Abbott Street in Kelowna has become a bustling route for cyclists and pedestrians, with over a quarter million active transportation users each year. Thanks to recent upgrades that have enhanced safety and comfort for users of all ages and abilities, this number continues to grow.
The previous phase of the Abbott Active Transportation Corridor (ATC) connects the Downtown and Pandosy Urban Centres through public parks and commercial areas while providing a direct link to the Kelowna General Hospital campus, one of the city’s largest employment hubs.

Stewart Rd West is a 2-lane major arterial road between South Perimeter Way and Swamp Rd, approximately 4.8 km in length. With increased traffic volumes anticipated due to the South Perimeter Way connection and continued growth in the Upper Mission, improvements are needed to ensure an acceptable level of traffic safety and operation. The first phase of this project was constructed in 2019 and the second phase is in the design and planning stage with construction planned for 2025.

The City is planning improvements to Lakeshore Rd between Richter St and Lanfranco Rd in 2025. Works include improving sidewalk connectivity along the east side between the new Caban development and Lanfranco Rd, new street trees, new crosswalk at the Gyro beach parking lot access and road asphalt renewal.

The City of Kelowna is planning to improve the intersection at Springfield Road and Dilworth Drive /Benvoulin Road. Major improvments include dual left turn lanes on Springfield Rd and a right turn lane on Benvoulin Rd from Mayer Rd. Project is currently in design stage and property aquisitions are required to deliver the project. Potential start date is 2026 subject to land aquisition.

The extension of Frost Road to Chute Lake Road will provide a new connection between Chute Lake Road and Gordon Drive, including a new roundabout at the intersection of Chute Lake and Frost roads.
This connection will improve access for residents of the Kettle Valley neighbourhood to Gordon Drive and South Perimeter Way, schools and future commercial services in the Ponds neighbourhood, and reduce traffic on parallel neighbourhood streets. 

Design work took place throughout 2024, with construction expected to be completed by fall 2025.
